RESOLUTION NO. 210-1981
WHEREAS, the Federal Communications Commission on June 21,
1979, granted to the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, twenty-five (25) construction permits for
TV Broadcast Translator Stations, and
WHEREAS, the said permits required that the translator
stations be constructed by June 21, 1980, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, has filed its Application for Extension of Time to
Complete Construction, which has been held in abeyance by the
Federal Communications Commission, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, has been engaged for several months in negotiations with
Tele-Media Company of Key West for a franchise agreement for a
community antenna television system to be owned and operated by
Tele-Media Company of Key West, in Monroe County, Florida, now
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, will not approve any agreement, nor adopt any resolu-
tion or ordinance granting to any person or organization the ex-
clusive right to provide television serVlce to the citizens of
the County, or which would prohibit the construction and operation
of a television translator system within the County.
Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 14th day of July, A.D. 1981.
