RESOLUTION NO. 250_1981
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSING OF
ALL MONROE COUNTY BEACHES AND PARKS IN THE
EVENT HURRICANE CONDITION NO. 2 SHALL BE
IN EFFECT, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATIONS THEREOF.
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of Monroe County to
safeguard the lives and property of its citizens at all times,
and especially during the time of a threatened or actual disaster,
and,
WHEREAS, it is also the responsibility of Monroe County to
operate and manage the various beaches and parks under its control,
and,
WHEREAS, it is determined that the continued use and
occupation of Monroe County beaches and parks, by its citizens,
during a disaster, constitutes a threat to the lives and property
of the citizens of the county, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY CO~fr~ISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. In the event that Monroe County shall be threatened
by a hurricane, and Hurricane Condition No.2 shall be in effect, as
determined by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Adminis-
tration, all Monroe County beaches and parks shall immediatelv be
closed to the public, and any persons, then, on those beaches or
in those parks shall promply leave, and the beaches and parks
shall remain closed until reopened by the County.
2. Any person violating the provisions of this resolution
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable
as provided in Florida Statutes Section 775.082 for Section
775.083, as authorized by Chapter 252, Florida Statutes.
Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board on the
25th day of August, 1981.
