Resolution 270-1981 RESOLUTION NO.270 - 1981 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE REORGANIZATION PROPOSAL FOR THE PLANNING, BUILDING, AND ZONING DEPARTMENT OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY ATTORNEY TO AD- VERTISE FOR PUBLIC HEARING ANY ORDINANCE CHANGES NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE PROPOSAL. WHEREAS, Monroe County, Florida, has taken the necessary steps, under the area of Critical State Concern, to adopt a com- prehensive zoning and land use plan; and MiEREAS, Monroe County's natural resources require ex- tensive monitoring, planning and protection because of their unique and irreplaceable nature; and WHEREAS, the future of Monroe County's economic base depends upon the efficient utilization of these natural assets; and WHEREAS, there is not at present staff adequate to provide timely planning, building, and zoning services to the citizens of Monroe County; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: That the Reorganization Proposal for the Planning, Building and Zoning Department of Monroe County, Florida as promulgated in the attached documents bearing the date of September 11, 1981, be and hereby is adopted. This resolution shall also be an authorization to the County Attorney to draft and advertise for public hearing such changes In the Monroe County Code of Ordinances as may be necessary to im- plement the plan, including but not limited to the changes in fee schedules for variances, zoning changes, construction permits, and other fee changes contemplated by the proposal. This resolution shall also include as policy the intention that the Reorganization Proposal is not intended to terminate cur- rent employees. The Commission intends that current wages (in- eluding any budgeted across the board increases) be paid to current employees, and that any employee who upgrade their knowledge, Page 1 of 2 Pages ability, skill, training, experience, and meet all license require- ments, be entitled to the increased wages contemplated by the pro- posal. To further encourage current employees to upgrade their skills, Monroe County will pay expenses, under guidelines establish- ed by the County Administrator, of necessary schooling for said employees to upgrade their job skills.
