Resolution 032-1961RE SOLUTION #32-1961 WHEREAS, the lack of an adequate supply of potable water for human consumption and industrial purposes has for many years retarded the economic growth of Monroe County, and WHEREAS, recent technical advancements now make it possible to convert salt water to fresh water at a cost com- parable to present supplies through the process known as "Desalination", and WHEREAS, the construction and location of a desalina- tion plant or plants within the limits of Monroe County would benefit the peoples of Monroe County by opening new fields and attracting industries not ,presently interested because of our well-known lack of water, and WHEREAS, the construction of a desalination plant or plants under civilian control in Monroe County would establish that dependable supply of potable water so necessary for industry, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED .by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida that said Board does hereby place itself upon the public record as favoring the construction, location or establishment of a desalination plant or plants for the conversion of salt water to fresh water within the confines of the present limits of Monroe County, Florida._ // Dated at Key West, Monroe County, Florida, this day of April, A.
