Resolution 057-1961 RESOLUTION NO. 57 -1961 WHEREAS, our Divine Father has seen fit to remove from this earth Qarence S. Higgs, and WHEREAS, the said Clarence S. Higgs served Monroe County as County Commissioner of the Third District, from 1945 until his death, and WHEREAS, during the years of tenure of service he was a most faithful and conscientious public servant, always working to the betterment and improvement of Monroe County, and WHEREAS, it was through his untiring efforts as Chairman of the County's Building and Grounds Committee that the Monroe County Beach and the White Street Pier were constructed and are today two of this Countyts main recreational attractions, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS- SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Monroe County Beach shall from this day be officially named Clarence S. Higgs Beach, and the White Street Pier shall be officially named Clarence S. Higgs Pier in commemoration of the service this public official rendered in behalf of these two recreational centers.
