RESOLUTION NO. 49 -1962
WHEREAS, there is only one primary road maintained by the State
Road Department in Monroe County, Florida out of State Primary Road
Funds, to-wit, State Road #5 (U. S. Highway # 1), and
WHEREAS, due to increase of traffic, the Board of County Com-
missioners of Monroe County, Florida deems it necessary for the public
welfare and safety to four-lane said State Road #5 (U. S. Highway #1)
throughout Monroe County, Florida, and considers said four-laning as
an emergency measure, requiring immediate action, and
WHEREAS said State Road #5 (U. S. Highway #1) is the only road
in Monroe County for which State Road funds may be expended, now, there-
fore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNT Y COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the State Road Department be, and
it is hereby requested to four-lane State Road #5 (U. S. Highway #I) through-
out Monroe County, Florida, and to pay for the cost of same out of State
Primary Road Funds.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said
Board be, and he is hereby authorized to forward certified copies of this
Resolution, with a request for appropriate action, to the State Road Depart-
ment.
