Resolution 072-1962 RESOLUTION NO. 72 -1962 WHEREAS, the President of the United States of America has out- lined to the nation this country's policy and stand on the Cuban situation, and WHEREAS, Monroe County, Florida is the portion of the United States which is closest to the Republic of Cuba, and its people are probably more cognizant of the dangers of the situation, and the peril which it pre- sents to this country, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida is fully in accord with the policy of this country as outlined by the President, and is desirous of commending the President for the course of action taken in this crisis, and WHEREAS, said Board of County Commissioners desires to let the President and the government of the United States know that it is ready, willing and able to cooperate to the fullest extent with any actions taken by the government in this matter, and to inform the government that any and all facilities of Monroe County, Florida, under the jurisdiction of said Board, are available for the use of the government, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY I FLORIDA, that the President of the United States of America be, and he is hereby commended for his stand, and the actions recently outlined by him on behalf of the United States government 'in the Cuban crisis, and said Board of County Commissioners hereby offers to the government any and all of the facilities of Monroe County, Florida under its jurisdiction, for use by the government, and any other assistance which said Board may be able to render, and said Board hereby assures the government that it will cooperate in any way requested, in any action taken concerning the Cuban crisis. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said Board be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the President of the United States of America.
