Resolution 082-1962 RESOLUTION NO. 82 -1962 WHEREAS, there is pending before the Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army, an application by Seadade Industries, Inc., for dredging in Lower Biscayne Bay (SAKSP Permits 62-618), and said Corps of Engineers in- tends to hold a hearing on said application on December 4, 1962, and WHEREAS, the granting of said permit might have an adverse effect upon the waters of and lands in Monroe County, Florida, especially the recently created underwater park in Monroe County, Florida, as well as affecting the fish and wild-life in said area, and the tidal action and navigation interests of the public in said area, and WHEREAS, to the knowledge of this Board, no study has ever been made to determine the effects of water flow which might result if said per- mit is granted and the construction proposed thereunder is allowed to be constructed, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY. FLORIDA, that the Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army, be, and it is hereby requested to make no final decision on the ap- plication of Seadade Industries, Inc., for dredging in Lower Biscayne Bay (SAKSP Permits 62-618), until competent governmental agencies have had time to make the necessary studies to determine the effect that the con- struction of said project would have on the marine and wild-life, naviga- tion, tides, etc., in this area, and that said Corps of Engineers insist that there be constructed a hydraulic scale model of said project, to determine and test the effects that such a project would have when constructed, upon the channels, ports, public waters and public lands, as well as the effect upon private lands, in this area, before said permit is finally granted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said Board be, and he is hereby authorized to forward certified copies of this Resolution to the Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army, for consideration at said public hearing to be held on December 4, 1962, on the application referred to herein. Dated November 27th, 1962.
