RESOLUTION NO. 83 -1962
WHEREAS, the United States of America, acting by and through the
Administrator of General Services, under and pursuant to the powers and
authority contained in the provisions of Public Law 616 - 80th Congress,
approved June 10, 1948, desires to convey a portion of the property
known as Key West Light Station, T-FLA-553, to Monroe County, a poli-
tical subdivision of the State of Florida, as an historic monument, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida desires to accept said conveyance, including all of its covenants
and conditions, and to authorize its execution and delivery, and accep-
tance of delivery when executed and delivered by the United States Govern-
ment, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the following land, situate, lying
and being in Monroe County, State of Florida, more particularly described
as follows, to-wit:
That certain piece or parcel of land on the island of Key
West being a part of tract number 3 (three) as designated
on the map or plan of said island, delineated by William
A. Whitehead February 1829 and commencing at the
Southeast corner of said tract 3 (three) on Whitehead
Street of the City of Key West extended, and running thence
Westwardly on the line between tract number 3 (three) and
10 (ten) two hundred and one feet (201) feet; thence in a
Northerly direction at right angles with said line one hun-
dred and eighty nine feet four inches (189 4/12 feet); thence
in an Easterly direction to Whitehead Street aforesaid two
hundred and one feet (201). Thence along Whitehead Street
to the place of beginning,
being deeded by a certain deed of conveyance by the United States of America,
acting by and through the Administrator of General Services, under and pur-
suant to the powers and authority contained in the provisions of Public Law
616 - 80th Congress, approved June 10, 1948, to Monroe County, a political
subdivision of the State of Florida, be, and the same is hereby accepted and
approved, including all of the covenants and conditions as contained in said
deed of conveyance, and the Chairman and the Clerk of said Board be, and
they are hereby authorized to execute said deed of conveyance on behalf of
Monroe County, Florida, and to deliver same to the United States of Amer-
ica, and to accept delivery of same when executed and delivered by the
United States of America to Monroe County, Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that upon the execu-
tion of said deed of conveyance by the Chairman and Clerk on behalf of
Monroe County, Florida, said deed be delivered to the United States of
America together with certified copies of this Resolution.
