Resolution 016-1963RESOLUTION NO. 16 -1963 WHEREAS., the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, desires. to adopt Rules and Regulations for the Marathon. Airport, Marathon, Florida, and WHEREAS, said Board deems. it necessary for the public safety and welfare toadopt and enforce traffic rules. and regulationsfor said Airport, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MO.NROE_ COUNTY, FLORIDA., as, follows. 1. That the Rules and. Regulations, Marathon Airport, Marathon, Florida., attached hereto and made a part hereof, for the management, government and use of airport properties, be, and the sam.e are hereby approved., adopted and promulgated for the purposes herein stated. 2. That the said Rules and. Regulations., Marathon Airport, Marathon, Florida, shall be recorded in the Minutes of this. meeting of the Board, and, shall be promulgated by posting a copy thereof at the Court House for four consecutive weeks, and shall become effective as. of the date of the filing and, recording of the Clerk's proof of. posting, and thereupon. the County Attorney be, and. he is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to cause the said Rules and Regulations, Marathon Airport, Marathon, Florida, to be published. in a sufficient number of copies, for general distribution. 3. That George Faraldo be, and he is hereby designated Airport Manager for the Marathon Airport, Marathon, Florida, .and he and/or his. successor is hereby vested with full police powers and is. authorized and directed, on the effective date provided herein, to enforce said regulations, and the violation thereof shall be a misdemeanor. Dated April 3rd 1963. RULES AND REGULATIONS MARATHON AIRPORT MARATHON, FLORIDA a. TAXI RULES 1. All aircraft shall taxi at a safe and reasonable speed under all circumstances and all aircraft shall be maneuvered on the ground so that maximum visibility is available to the pilot while taxiing. 2. All aircraft shall use the South side (Highway U.S. #1 side) of airport cleared area while taxiing and shall head aircraft dur- ing run-up in such a position so as to observe landing aircraft on the center and North side of the runway. (See attached traffic and taxi pattern). 3. Aircraft not equipped with brakes shall have an attendant at a wing when the aircraft is taxied near buildings or other aircraft. 4. All landing aircraft shall have the right of way over all aircraft or vehicles on the ground. b. TAKE -OFF 1. All aircraft awaiting take -off shall stop at least 100 feet South of centerline of active runway. 2. Light aircraft taking off shall make the first turn outside the boundary of the airport at 400 feet 900 to the left followed by a 450 turn to the right to depart from the pattern. Aircraft desiring to continue in the pattern will climb to traffic altitude of 800 feet. 3. Heavy aircraft taking off shall climb straight out for at least 3 miles prior to turning on course. 4. Under no circumstances will there be take -offs or landings in the opposite direction of other traffic. c . LANDING 1. Light aircraft shall enter the traffic pattern at 800 feet altitude on a 45 angle and shall observe standard left hand rectangular traffic pattern in view of the airport boundary at all times. 2. Heavy aircraft - The traffic pattern for heavy aircraft shall be a larger left hand rectangular pattern at 1200 feet. Entry to traffic pattern is made on the downwind leg at 450 angle to the leg at 1200 feet. (See attached traffic and taxi pattern). 3. Landing and take -offs shall be made directly into the wind or on runway most alligned to wind. During calm wind or up to 6 M.P.H. , runway 7 shall be used for take -offs and landings. 4. All aircraft shall clear runway as soon as practicable after landing and proceed to the South side for taxiing. 5. Under no circumstances will there be take -offs or landings in the opposite direction of other traffic. 6. Aircraft entering the traffic pattern shall exercise caution and courtesy so as not to cause aircraft already in the pattern to deviate from their course. d. MOTOR VEHICLES 1. No vehicles shall be permitted on the airport except those ve- hicles designated by the Airport Manager or Director of Airports of Monroe County, Florida. 2. When it is necessary for these vehicles to be on the airport for operational purposes, then these vehicles must be equipped with at least 24 inch square, yellow/black flag, plainly visible, on the vehicle. e . PENALTY 1.
