RESOLUTION NO. 33 -1963
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, FIXING THE BOUNDARIES
OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS! DISTRICTS IN MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, it is considered necessary and expedient to change the
present boundaries of the County Commissioners' Districts in Monroe Coun-
ty, Florida, and to establish new County Commissioners' Districts in Mon-
roe County, Florida, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Commissioners! Districts
of Monroe County, Florida, shall be and they are hereby established as follows:
1. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO. 1 shall comprise all of
the territory in the City of Key West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of United Street projected to
the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and running thence along
the center line of United Street in a Northeasterly direction
to where said center line intersects the center line of White
Street; thence at right angles in a Southwesterly direction
along the center line of White Street to where it intersects
the center line of Flagler Avenue; thence at right angles in a
Northeasterly direction along the center line of Flagler Avenue
to where it intersects the center line of George Street; thence
at right angles in a Northwesterly direction along the center
line of George Street to where it intersects the center line of
Roosevelt Boulevard; thence at right angles in a Northeasterly
direction along the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard to where
it intersects the center line of Kennedy Drive (also known as
13th Street); thence at right angles in a Southwesterly direction a-
long the center line of Kennedy Drive (also known as 13th Street)
to where it intersects the center line of Flagler Avenue; thence
at right angles in an Easterly direction along the center line of
Flagler Avenue projected to the waters of Cow Key Channel.
2. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO.2 shall comprise all of
the territory in the City of Key West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of Angela Street projected to the
waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and running thence along the center
line of Angela Street in a Northeasterly direction to where it in-
tersects the center lines of Elizabeth Street and Windsor Lane;
thence in a Southeasterly direction along the center line of Wind-
sor Lane to where it intersects the center line of Passover Lane;
thence at right angles in a Northeasterly direction along the center
line of Passover Lane to where it intersects the center lines of
Margaret and Angela Streets; thence in a Northeasterly direction
along the center line of Angela Street to where it intersects the
center line of White Street; thence at right angles in a Southwesterly
direction along the center line of White Street to where it
intersects the center line of Truman Avenue; thence at right
angles in a Northeasterly direction along the center line of
Truman Avenue to where it intersects the center line of
Roosevelt Boulevard; thence continuing in a Northeasterly di-
rection along the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard to where
it intersects the center line of Kennedy Drive (also known as
13th Street); thence at right angles in a Southwesterly direction
along the center line of Kennedy Drive (also known as 13th
Street) to where it intersects the center line of Flagler Avenue;
thence at right angles in an Easterly direction along the center
line of Flagler Avenue projected to the waters of Cow Key
Channel; and that part of Stock Island which lies Northerly of
the center line of U. S. Highway #1 and is part of the corporate
limits of the City of Key West, Florida.
3. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS! DISTRICT NO. 3 shall comprise all of
the territory in the City of Key West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of United Street projected to the
waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and running thence along the cen-
ter line of United Street in a Northeasterly direction to where it
intersects the center line of White Street; thence at right angles
in a Southwesterly direction along the center line of White Street
to where it intersects the center line of Flagler Avenue; thence
at right angles in a Northeasterly direction along the center line
of Flagler Avenue to where it intersects the center line of George
Street; thence at right angles in a Northwesterly direction along
the center line of George Street to where it intersects the center
line of Roosevelt Boulevard; thence at right angles in a Westerly
direction along the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard to where it
intersects the center line of Truman Avenue; thence continuing in
a Westerly direction along the center line of Truman Avenue to
where it intersects the center line of White Street; thence at right
angles in a Northwesterly direction along the center line of White
Street to where it intersects the center line of Angela Street;
thence at right angles in a Westerly direction along the center
line of Angela Street to where it intersects the center lines of
Margaret Street and Passover Lane; thence in a Southwesterly
direction along the center line of Passover Lane to where it inter-
sects the center line of Windsor Lane; thence at right angles in a
Northwesterly direction along the center line of Windsor Lane to
where it intersects the center lines of Elizabeth and Angela Streets;
thence in a Westerly direction along the center line of Angela
Street projected to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
4. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO.4 shall comprise all of
the territory in Monroe County, Florida, within the following boundaries:
That portion of Stock Island, Monroe County, Florida, lying
Southerly of U. S. Highway #1, and all of the Florida Keys ly-
ing Northeast of the Island of Key West, up to, but not including,
Long Key, Monroe County, Florida.
5. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO. 5 shall comprise all of
the territory in Monroe County, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Beginning with Long Key, Monroe County, Florida, and including
all the Florida Keys in Monroe County, Florida, North and East
from Long Key, up to and including Key Largo, and all that area
in Monroe County, Florida situate upon the mainland of the State
of Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that this Resolution
be entered in the Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners, and a
certified copy thereof be published once each week for four (4) consecutive
weeks in the Key West Citizen, a nlilwspaper published in Monroe County,
Florida. .
