RESOLUTION NO. 37 -1963
WHEREAS, at the regular session of the Legislature of the State of
Florida for the year 1963, a special law was passed concerning the Mon-
roe County Anti-Mosquito District, which contained provisions requiring
a referendum election to be held at the discretion of said Board, in Mon-
roe County, Florida, to determine if said law shall become effective, and
WHEREAS, said Board has requested the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Monroe County, Florida to hold said referendum election in
Monroe County, Florida, on the 20th day of August, A. D. 1963, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Board of County Commissioners
of Monroe County, Florida to call and conduct said referendum election,
and to give notice of said election as required by the Laws of Florida, now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that a referendum election be held in
Monroe County, Florida on August 20, 1963, to determine whether or not
the following special law passed at the 1963 session of the Legislature of
the State of Florida shall become effective, to -wit:
House Bill No. 1939, entitled:
"An Act amending section 1 of Chapter 31009, Laws of
Florida, Acts of the Legislature, year 1955, entitled
"An Act amending section 1 of Chapter 29295, Laws of
Florida, Acts of the Legislature year 1953, entitled fAn
Act amending section 16 of Chapter 26042, Laws of Flori-
da, Acts of the Legislature year 1949, entitled tAn Act
providing for the creation, organization and administration
of anti-mosquito districts in Monroe County, Florida; pro-
viding for the appointment and election of commissioners
for said district; specifying their rights, powers and duties;
providing for the financing by taxation, and for the dis-
bursement of such finances; naming the duties of County
Commissioners, Tax Assessors and collectors; and pro-
viding penalties for damages to any works of the district',
by changing the method by which the Board of County Com-
missioners of Monroe County, Florida determines the
amount of taxes levied for the Monroe County Anti-Mosquito
District by limiting the rate of taxation to 1 mill; repealing
all laws and parts of laws, whether general or special, in
conflict with this Act to the extent of such conflict; and pro-
viding when Act shall take effect', by incrE!'asing the rate of
taxation to be levied for said Districtll, by increasing the
rate of taxation to be levied for said District; repealing all
laws and parts of laws, whether general or special, in con-
flict with this Act to the extent of such conflict; providing
for referendum. 11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that notice of holding
said referendum election be published as required by the Laws of Florida.
