RESOLUTION NO.
18 -1965
WHEREAS, the Federal Government, in cooperation with the Board
of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, intends to construct
a project known as the Cross Key Canal, Florida, Navigation Project, and
WHEREAS, said Board desires the Federal Government to proceed
with the construction of said project under the terms hereinafter set forth,
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY I FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the Federal Government be, and it is hereby requested to
construct the project known as the Cross Key Canal, Florida, Navigation
Project.
2. That said County will contribute in cash 50% of the contract price
plus supervision and administration thereof for all items of work to be per-
formed by the Corps of Engineers, an amount now estimated at $15, 300.00,
to be paid in a lump sum prior to the start of construction, the final alloca-
tion of cost to be made after the actual costs have been determined, pro-
vided that said cash contribution is not required prior to October 1, 1965.
2. That said County will provide without cost to the United States
all lands, easements and rights-of-way required for construction and sub-
sequent maintenance of the project and for aids to navigation upon the re-
quest of the Chief of Engineers, including suitable areas determined by the
Chief of Engineers to be required in the general public interest for initial
and subsequent disposal of spoil; and necessary retaining dikes, bulkheads,
and embankments therefor, or the costs of such retaining works.
3. That said County will hold and save the United States free from
damages, including shore erosion, that may be attributed to construction
and maintenance of the project.
4. That said County will provide when and as required and maintain
without cost to the United States necessary boat-launching and mooring
facilities and utilities, including a public landing with suitable supply
facilities, open to all on equal terms.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said
Board be, and he is hereby authorized to forward copies of this Resolution
to the District Engineer, Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville, Florida, for
appropriate action.
