RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, ALTERING CERTAIN EX-
ISTING ELECTION DISTRICTS, AND CREATING NEW VOTING
PRECINCTS IN CERTAIN ELECTION DISTRICTS IN MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, it is considered necessary and expedient to alter certain
existing Election Districts in Monroe County, Florida, and to create new
voting precincts in certain Election Districts in Monroe County, Florida,
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that certain Election Districts and pre-
cincts in Monroe County, Florida shall be and they are hereby established
as follows:
ELECTION DISTRICT NO. 1 shall include four (4) precincts, to-wit:
Precincts Nos. 1, I-A, 2 and 3, as follows:
Precinct No. 1 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key
West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing at the intersection of the center lines of Flagler
Avenue and MacMillan Drive (also known as 5th Street) and
running thence in a Northwesterly direction along the center
line of MacMillan Drive (also known as 5th Street) to where it
intersects the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard; thence at
right angles in an Easterly direction along the center line of
Roosevelt Boulevard to where it intersects the center line of
Kennedy Drive (also known as 13th Street); thence at right an-
gles in a Southwesterly direction along the center line of Ken-
nedy Drive (also known as 13th Street) to where it intersects
the center line of Northside Drive; thence at right angles in a
Northeasterly direction along the center line of Northside Drive
to where it would intersect the center line of 14th Street, ex-
tended in a Northerly direction; thence at right angles in a
Southwesterly direction along said extended center line of 14th
Street, and the center line of 14th Street, to where said center
line of 14th Street intersects the center line of Flagler A venue;
thence at right angles in a Westerly direction along the center
line of Flagler Avenue to where it intersects the center line of
MacMillan Drive (also known as 5th Street).
The polling place in Precinct No. 1 shall be 1he Poinciana Ele-
mentary School, in the City of Key West, Florida.
Precinct No. I-A shall comprise all of the territory in the City of
Key West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing at the intersection of the center lines of Flagler
A venue and George Street and running thence in a Northwes-
terly direction along the center line of George Street to where
it intersects the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard; thence at
right angles in an Easterly direction along the center line of
Roosevelt Boulevard to where it intersects the center line of
MacMillan Drive (also known as 5th Street); thence at right
angles in a Southwesterly direction along the center line of
MacMillan Drive (also known as 5th Street) to where it inter-
sects the center line of Flagler Avenue; thence at right angles
in a Westerly direction along the center line of Flagler Avenue
to where it intersects the center line of George Street.
The polling place in Precinct No. I-A shall be the rental office
of George Allen Apartments on Fogarty A venue in the City of
Key West, Florida.
Precinct No. 2 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key
West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of White Street projected to
the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and running thence in a
Northwesterly direction along the center line of White Street
to where it intersects the center line of Flagler Avenue; thence
at right angles in an Easterly direction along the center line of
Flagler Avenue projected to the waters of Cow Key Channel.
The polling place in Precinct No.2 shall be the Key West High
School, Flagler Avenue, in the City of Key West, Florida.
Precinct No. 3 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key
West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of White Street projected to
the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and running thence in a
Northwesterly direction along the center line of White Street
to where it intersects the center line of United Street; thence
at right angles in a Southwesterly direction along the center
line of United Street projected to the waters of the Atlantic
Ocean.
The polling place in Precinct No. 3 shall be the Memorial
Elementary School, White and United Streets, in the City of
Key West, Florida.
Said Election District No. 1 is co-terminus with County Commissionersr
District No.1.
ELECTION DISTRICT NO. 2 shall include five (5) precincts, to-wit:
Precincts Nos. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, as follows:
Precinct No. 4 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key
West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
The polling place in Precinct No. 14-A shall be the Methodist
Church Annex, Big Coppitt Key, Monroe County, Florida.
Precinct No. 15 shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County,
Florida, within the following boundaries:
All of the Florida Keys in Monroe County, Florida, lying
North and East of Sugarloaf Key, up to and including No Name
Key and Big Pine Key, Monroe County, Florida.
The polling place in Precinct No. 15 shall be the Firehouse
at Big Pine Key, Monroe County, Florida.
Precinct No. 16 shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County,
Florida, within the following boundaries:
Beginning with Spanish Harbor Keys, and including all the
Keys in Monroe County, Florida, North and East of Spanish
Harbor Keys up to Key Vaca; and that portion of Key Vaca
West of the North-South section line dividing Sections 1, 12,
2 and 11, Township 66 South, Range 32 East, Monroe County,
Florida.
The polling place in Precinct No. 16 shall be the Chamber of
Commerce Building, Marathon, Key Vaca, Monroe County,
Florida.
Precinct No. 17 shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County,
Florida, within the following boundaries:
All that portion of Key Vaca lying East of the North-South
section line dividing Sections 1, 12, 2 and 11, Township 66
South, Range 32 East, Monroe County, Florida, up to the
Key Vaca Cut Bridge.
The polling place in Precinct No. 17 shall be the Spiegel Build-
ing, Key Vaca, Monroe County, Florida.
Precinct No. 18 shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County,
Florida, within the following boundaries:
All of the Florida Keys lying North and East of the Key Vaca
Cut Bridge, up to Crawl Key No.5, and that portion of Crawl
Key No.5 lying South and West of Banana Boulevard on said Key.
The polling place in Precinct No. 18 shall be the Convention
Hall, City of Key Colony Beach, Monroe County, Florida.
Precinct No. 18-A shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County,
Florida, within the following boundaries:
That portion of Crawl Key No.5 lying North and East of
Banana Boulevard on said Key, and all of the Florida Keys
lying North and East of Crawl Key No.5, up to, but not in-
cluding, Long Key, Monroe County, Florida.
Boulevard; thence continuing in an Easterly direction along
the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard to where it intersects
the center line of Kennedy Drive {also known as 13th Street};
thence at right angles in a Northwesterly direction along the
center line of Kennedy Drive (also known as 13th Street} pro-
jected to the waters of the Gulf.
The polling place in Precinct No.7 shall be the Gomez Building,
1200 block Truman ..Avenue, in the City of Key West, Florida.
Precinct No. 8 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key
West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of Kennedy Drive (also known
as 13th Street) projected to the waters of the Gulf, and running
thence in a Southwesterly direction along the center line of
Kennedy Drive (also known as 13th Street) to where it intersects
the center line of Northside Drive; thence at right angles in a
Northeasterly direction along the center line of Northside Drive
to where it would intersect the center line of 14th Street, ex-
tended in a Northerly direction; thence at right angles in a
Southwesterly direction along said extended center line of 14th
Street, and the center line of 14th Street, to where said center
line of 14th Street intersects the center line of Flagler Avenue;
thence at right angles in an Easterly direction along the center
line of Flagler Avenue projected to the waters of Cow Key
Channel; and that part of Stock Island which lies Northerly of
the center line of U. S. Highway #1 and is part of the corporate
limits of the City of Key West, Florida.
The polling place in Precinct No. 8 shall be the JayCee Club-
house, Flagler A venue, in the City of Key West, Florida.
Said Election District No.2 is co-terminus with County Commissioners'
District No.2.
ELECTION DISTRICT NO. 4 shall include seven {7}'precincts, to-wit:
Precincts Nos. 14, 14-A, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 18-A, as follows:
Precinct No. 14 shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County,
Florida, within the following boundaries:
That portion of Stock Island, Monroe County, Florida, lying
Southerly of US. Highway #1, and all of the Florida Keys
lying Northeast of the Island of Key West, up to the West end
of Rockland Channel Viaduct, U. S. Highway # 1, Monroe Coun-
ty, Florida.
The polling place in Precinct No. 14 shall be the First Baptist
Church Annex, Stock Island, Monroe County, Florida.
Precinct No. 14-A shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County,
Florida, within the following boundaries:
All of the Florida Keys lying North and East of the East end
of the Rockland Channel Viaduct, up to and including Sugar-
loaf Key, Monroe County, Florida.
Commencing on the center line of Angela Street projected to
the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and running thence in a
Northeasterly direction along the center line of Angela Street
to where it intersects the center lines of Elizabeth Street and
Windsor Lane; thence in a Southeasterly direction along the
center line of Windsor Lane to where it intersects the center
line of William Street; thence in a Northwesterly direction
along the center line of William Street projected to the waters
of the harbor.
The polling place in Precinct No.4 shall be the Monroe County
Court House, Whitehead Street, in the City of Key West, Florida.
Precinct No. 5 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key
West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of William Street projected to
the waters of the harbor, and running thence in a Southwesterly
direction along the center line of William Street to where it in-
tersects the center line of Fleming Street; thence at right an-
gles in a Northeasterly direction along the center line of Flem-
ing Street projected to the waters of the Bay.
The polling place in Precinct No.5 shall be Porter Place, foot
of White Street, in the City of Key West, Florida.
Precinct No. 6 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key
West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of Fleming Street projected to
the waters of the Bay, and running thence in an Easterly di-
rection along the center line of Fleming Street to where it
intersects the center line of William Street; thence at right
angles in a Southwesterly direction along the center line of
William Street to where it intersects the center line of Wind-
sor Lane; thence in a Southwesterly direction along the center
line of Windsor Lane to where it intersects the center line of
Passover Lane; thence at right angles in a Northeasterly di-
rection along the center line of Pas sover Lane to where it in-
tersects the center lines of Margaret and Angela Streets;
thence in a Northeasterly direction along the center line of
Angela Street projected to the waters of the Bay.
The polling place in Precinct No.6 shall be Dayfs Corner,
Southard and Grinnell Streets, in the City of Key West, Florida.
Precinct No. 7 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key
West, Florida, within the following boundaries:
Commencing on the center line of Angela Street projected to
the waters of the Bay, and running thence in a Westerly direc-
tion along the center line of Angela Street to where it intersects
the center line of White Street; thence at right angles in a South-
westerly direction along the center line of White Street to where
it intersects the center line of Truman Avenue; thence at right
angles in an Easterly direction along the center line of Truman
Avenue to where it intersects the center line of Roosevelt
The polling place in Precinct No. 18-A shall be the Firehouse
at Conch Key, Monroe County, Florida.
Said Election District No.4 is co-terminus with County Commissionersl
District No.4.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that this Resolution be
recorded in the Registry of Deeds in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit
Court of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida, in and for Monroe County,
and that same be published in The Key West Citizen, a newspaper published
in Monroe County, Florida, once each week for four (4) weeks.
