Resolution 076-1965 RESOLUTION NO. 76 -1965 WHEREAS, Hurricane Betsy struck Monroe County on September 8, 1965, filling streets, highways and public facilities with seaweed and other debris, and washing away parts of streets and avenues, making traffic al- most impas sable, and WHEREAS, a state of emergency existed, requiring prompt action on the part of the Board of County Commissioners, to prevent a health hazard and to make possible travel on the roads of the County, and WHEREAS, said Board of County Commissioners, acting as the Mon- roe County Civil Defense Counsel, did authorize Civil Defense officials to engage the service of contractors to remove the seaweed and debris, and to repair said roads, as an emergency measure, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the action taken by said Board, ac- ting as the Monroe County Civil Defense Counsel, in authorizing Civil De- fense officials to engage the service of contractors to remove the seaweed and debris and to repair the roads damaged by Hurricane Betsy, be, and the same is hereby re-affirmed and approved.
