Resolution 050-1967RESOLUTION NO. 50 -1967 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida deems it for the best interests of the safety and welfare of the citizens of Monroe County, Florida to have U. S. Highway #1 four-laned from Florida City to Key West, and WHEREAS, said Board realizes that the only way to accomplish said four-laning is by making said portion of U. S. Highway #1 a toll road, operated under the State Turnpike Authority, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that said Board hereby recommends that the portion of U. S. Highway #1 from Florida City to Key West, Florida be placed under the jurisdiction of the -State Turnpike Authority for the purpose of four-laning said road and bridges, and to pay for the cost of said four-laning by making said portion of said U. S. Highway # 1 a toll road, and requests that in the event such portion of said highway is made a toll road, bona fide residents of Monroe County, Florida may be allowed to use said toll road without paying any tolls. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the State Turn- pike Authority be, and it is hereby requested to immediately make a feasibility study of said proposed project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said Board be, and he is hereby authorized to forward certified copies of this Resolution to the State Turnpike Authority for such action as it may deem advisable.
