Resolution 018-1968 RESOLUTION NO. 18 -1968 WHEREAS, Darryl F. Sheley, Trustee, desires to acquire a certain 9.65 acre parcel of submerged land (Reference - Trustees File No. 2048- 44-253. 12) on Key Largo, Monroe County, Florida, from the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund of the State of Florida, and WHEREAS, the said Darryl F. Sheley plans to construct a break- water on said parcel of submerged land, which will also be wide enough and long enough for a runway for small aircraft, and WHEREAS, the said Darryl F. Sheley will allow the public to use said runway and breakwater as a public airport facility, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida approves the plan of the said Darryl F. Sheley for the use of said submerged land, and desires to recommend to the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund that the application of the said Darryl F. Sheley be ap- proved for the reasons hereinafter set forth, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Trustees of the Internal Im- provement Fund of the State of Florida be advised that the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida has no objection to the sale of the 9.65 acres of submerged land to the said Darryl F. Sheley, and said Board does hereby request that said Trustees approve the application of the said Darryl F. Sheley for the following reasons: 1. The breakwater will provide protection from storm waves for the 100 people who reside in the community of Port Largo. 2. The landing strip would relieve the need for a public landing strip on Key Largo. 3. The Monroe County Anti-Mosquito District would use the landing strip, enabling them to provide better service fat the residents of Key Largo. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said Board be, and he is hereby authorized to forward certified copies of this Resolution to the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund and the Florida Board of Conservation for appropriate action.
