Resolution 015-1969RESOLUTION NO. 15 -1969 WHEREAS, the fruit designated as "citrus aurantifolia", popularly known as "Key Lime!', is peculiar to this area of South Florida, and flourishes in abundance in Monroe County, along the full length of the fabulous Florida Keys, and WHEREAS, the pungent aroma and succulent taste of said fruit has been enjoyed by native Floridians and tourists alike for many years, and its virtues extolled in prose, poetry and by word of mouth, and WHEREAS, the fame of said fruit has spread far and wide, causing it to be universally regarded as a rare and choice delicacy, and WHEREAS, there are unfortunately a few persons as yet unacquainted with this superb tropical taste treat, who have expressed doubt as to the very existence of same, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida realizes that it is difficult for such persons to comprehend the full import of the esteem in which said delicacy is held because of its aforesaid virtues, and desires to remedy the situation, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE, BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA., that said Board, on behalf of the citizens of this fair County, does hereby officially declare the existence of the fruit designated as "citrus aurantifolia", popularly known as "Key Lime", and does hereby authorize the preparation and forwarding of a gift package con- taining a sample of said fruit to the Honorable Michael O. O'Neil of the Florida State Road Department (he being one of the persons above referred -Jo), in order that there may be no further doubt that said fabled fruit does exist, and fully merits the universal reknown which has been bestowed upon it.
