Resolution 016-1969RESOLUTION NO. 16-1969 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, FIXING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICTS IN MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, it is considered necessary and expedient to change the present boundaries of the County Commissioners' Districts in Monroe Coun- ty, Florida, and to establish new County Commissioners' Districts in Mon- roe County, Florida, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Commissioners' Districts of Monroe County, Florida, shall be and they are hereby established as follows: 1. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO. 1 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key West, Florida and the County of Monroe, Florida, within the following boundaries: Commencing on the center line of White Street projected to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and running thence along the cen- ter line of White Street to where it intersects the center line of Flagler Avenue; thence at right angles along the center line of Flagler Avenue to where it intersects the center line of Mac- Millan Drive (formerly known as 5th Street); thence at right angles along the center line of MacMillan Drive (formerly known as 5th Street) to where it intersects the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard; thence at right angles along the center line of Roose- velt Boulevard to where it intersects the center line of 7th Street; thence at right angles in a Northerly direction along the center line of 7th Street projected to the waters of the Bay, including the islands known as Sigsbee Park, Thompson Island and Key Haven; and all of the Florida Keys lying Northeasterly and Easterly of the Island of Key West up to the West end of Rock- land Channel Viaduct, U. S. Highway No. 1. 2. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO. 2 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key West, Florida within the following boundaries: Commencing on the center line of White Street projected to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and running thence along the cen- ter line of White Street to where it intersects the center line of United Street; thence at right angles along the center line of United Street to where it intersects the center line of Simonton Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Simonton Street to where it intersects the center line of Angela Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Angela Street to where it intersects the center lines of Elizabeth Street and Wind- sor Lane; thence at an angle along the center line of Windsor Lane to where it intersects the center line of William Street; thence at an angle along the center line of William Street to where it intersects the center line of Fleming Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Fleming Street to where it intersects the center line of Frances Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Frances Street to where it intersects the center line of Eaton Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Eaton Street to where it intersects the center line of Palm Avenue; thence at an angle along the center line of Palm Avenue projected to a point in Garrison Bight where it would intersect the center line of the entrance to Garrison Bight; thence at right angles along the center line of the entrance to Garrison Bight in a Northeasterly direction projected to the waters of the Bay to a point where said projected center line would intersect the center line of 7th Street projected to the waters of the Bay. 3. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO. 3 shall comprise all of the territory in the City of Key West, Florida, within the following boundaries: Commencing on the center line of 7th Street projected to the waters of the Bay; thence along said projected center line in a Southerly direction to where it would intersect the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard; thence at right angles along the center line of Roosevelt Boulevard to where it intersects the center line off' MacMillan Drive (formerly known as 5th Street); thence at right angles along the center line of MacMillan Drive (former- ly known as 5th Street) to where it intersects the center line of Flagler Avenue; thence at right angles along the center line of Flagler Avenue to where it intersects the center line of White Street; thence at right angles along the center line of White Street to where it intersects the center line of United Street; thence at right angles along the center line of United Street to where it in- tersects the center line of Simonton Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Simonton Street to where it intersects the center line of Angela Street; thence at right angles along the centerline of Angela Street to where it intersects the center lines of Elizabeth Street and Windsor Lane; thence at an angle along the center line of Windsor Lane to where it intersects the center line of William Street; thence at an angle along the center line of William Street to where it intersects the center line of Fleming Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Fleming Street to where it intersects the center line of Frances Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Frances Street to where it intersects the center line of Eaton Street; thence at right angles along the center line of Eaton Street to where it intersects the center line of Palm Avenue; thence at an angle along the center line of Palm Avenue projected to a point in Garrison Bight where it would intersect the center line of the entrance to Garrison Bight; thence at right angles along the cen- ter line of the entrance to Garrison Bight in a Northeasterly direction projected to the waters of the Bay to a point where said projected center line would intersect the center line of 7th Street projected to the waters of the Bay. 4. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO. 4 shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County, Florida, within the following boundaries: -2- r All of the Florida Keys lying North and East of the East end of Rockland Channel Viaduct, U. S. Highway No. 1, up to Crawl Key No. 5, and that portion of Crawl Key No. 5 lying South and West of Banana Boulevard on said Key. 5. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT NO. 5 shall comprise all of the territory in Monroe County, Florida, within the following boundaries: That portion of Crawl Key No. 5 lying North and East of Banana Boulevard on said Key, and all of the Florida Keys lying North and East of Crawl Key No. 5, up to and including Key Largo, and all that area in Monroe County, Florida, situate upon the mainland of the State of Florida. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that this Resolution be entered in the Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners, and a certified copy thereof be published once each week for four (4) consecutive weeks in The Key West Citizen, a newspaper published in Monroe County, Florida.
