Resolution 027-1969 RESOLUTION NO. 27_1969 WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has established a National Flood Insurance Program, designed to make flood insurance available through a cooperative effort of the Federal Government and the private insurance industry, and literature on said program has been submitted to Monroe County, Florida, and WHEREAS, said program requires the cooperation of State and local governments in order to be eligible for participation, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida realizes the great importance of such a program to the citizens of said County, and desires to evidence positive interest in same, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that said Board hereby expresses its positive interest in said National Flood Insurance Program, and its desire to make said program available to the citizens of Monroe County, Florida, particularly because certain areas of said County are subject to flooding as a result of hurricanes, and no program presently exists which can offer relief in the event of such an occurrence. BE IT FUR THER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that said Board, m expressing its interest and desire to participate in said program, also here- by expresses its willingness to cooperate with the Department of Housing and Urban Development as fully as possible in order to make said program available in Monroe County, Florida, and to take such other official actions as may be necessary to carry out the objectives of said program. BE IT FUR THER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said Board be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Federal Insurance Administrator, Department of Housing and Urban Development, in order that appropriate action may be taken to participate in said program.
