RESOLUTION NO. 353-1993
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING A HURRICANE
PREPAREDNESS COMMITTEE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS AND
SUCCESS OF HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS IN MONROE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, on August 24, 1992, Hurricane Andrew devastated
South Dade County; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County, with the exception of the Ocean Reef
area, barely escaped similar destruction; and
WHEREAS, Hurricane Preparedness: Hurricane Andrew was the
subject of the Fall Term 1992 Final Grand Jury Report; and
WHEREAS, the Grand Jury recommended the creation of a
committee to monitor the progress and success of hurricane
preparedness in Monroe County; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:

Section 1.
There
Commander of Joint Task Force Four.
Section 2.
The Hurricane Preparedness Committee will
hold semi-annual hearings in order to monitor and report on the
progress and success of hurricane preparedness in Monroe County;
said hearings to be open to the public and held in accordance
with the laws regulating government in the sunshine.
Section 3.
The Committee is not authorized to expend any
funds unless it has prior authorization by the Board, and the
Committee
members
shall
serve
without
compensation
or
reimbursement of personal expenses.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
