A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THEPROPOSED SPECIAL ACT WHICH
PROPOSES THE TURNING OVER OF THE OPERATION OF THE JAIL
FACILITY -TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
WHEREAS, . there is a .special. act being submitted by -the
Sheriff of Monroe.County'for the removal of the operation of
the jail facility from -the Sheriff to the Board of County Com-
missioners of Monroe County, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County;
Florida, is opposed.to.said-special act, and
WHEREAS, positive,action.has-been taken by -the Commission
in that they met with the Sheriff and that an investigation of
the building of a stockade-s_being considered, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE'COUNTY, FLORIDA,.as.follows:
I.'. That the proposed special -act being. submitted by the
.Sheriff of Monroe County, Florida, for the removal of the opera-
tion of the jail facility.from the Sheriff to the Board.of County
Commissioners of Monroe County,., Florida, is hereby opposed by.
said Board, and the Board does.hereby request that the Monroe
County Legislative Delegation not -support or -propose such legis-
lation.
2. That the Board of County'Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, does hereby request -that the Monroe County Legislative
Delegation set a time at whichl members of the Board and its staff
can"review the .matter with:tlhe Delegation should the Delegation'
deem it necessary in order to comply with the above request.
3... That the Clerk.is hereby directed to forward a certified
copy of this resolution .to the Monroe County Legislative Delegation
and such other appropriate officials. as necessary.
