RESOLUTION NO. 224 - 1979
A RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT THERE IS A NEED FOR
A HEALTH FACILITIES AUTHORITY TO FUNCTION IN THE
COUNTY OF ,MONROE; ESTABLISHING THE COUNTY OF
MONROE HEALTH FACILITIES AUTHORITY; NAMING THE
INITIAL MEMBERS OF THE AUTHORITY; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, Section 154.207, Florida Statutes, authorizes
the Board of County Commissioners to create a public body corporate
and politic to insure that the people of Monroe County have access
to adequate medical care and health facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners 1S aware of the
health needs of the residents of Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, it has been demonstrated to the Board of County
Commissioners that a Health Facilities Authority is needed within
Monroe County, Florida, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County hereby finds and declares that it is essential that the people
of Monroe County have access to adequate medical care and health
facilities in order to increase their commerce, welfare, and prosperity
and to improve their health and living conditions.
SECTION 2. That the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County further finds and declares that it is essential that the health
facilities within Monroe County be provided with sufficient means to
assist in the development and maintenance of the public health and
that a Health Facilities Authority is needed within Monroe County to
Further the commerce, welfare and prosperity and to improve the health
and living conditions of the people of Monroe County, Florida.
SECTION 3. That the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County further finds and declares that there is a need for the
establishment of a Health Facilities Authority within Monroe County,
Florida, which Authority is hereby created under the Health Facilities

Authorities Law (Laws of Florida, 1974, Chapter 74-323, as amended,
being part III of Chapter 154, Florida Statutes, as amended) to
function within Monroe County.
SECTION 4. That the five (5) members of the Monroe County
Commission are hereby designated as members of the Monroe County
Health Facilities Authority, until successor members are appointed
by the Monroe County Commission. This Resolution shall constitute
the charter of the said Authority.
SECTION 5. That the Monroe County Sub-Area Council of the
Dade-Monroe Health Systems Agency advise and comment regarding the
appointment of successor members of the Monroe County Health Faci1-
ities Authority, and; that the Monroe County Sub-Area Council of the
Dade-Monroe Health Systems Agency be provided with any petition for
the issuance of revenue bonds by the Authority, for its review and
comment to the Monroe County Health Facilities Authority.
SECTION 6. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its passage and adoption.
Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners
of Monroe County, Florida, this 9th day of October, 1979.
