RESOLUTION NO. 248 - 1979
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHAIRMAN OF
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BY
AND BETWEEN THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND THE STOCK
ISLAND VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, INC.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
That the Chairman be authorized to execute an Agreement
by and between the BOARD OF COUNTY CO}~ISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, and the STOCK ISLAND VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, INC.,
a copy of same being attached hereto.
Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners
of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting held on the 23rd
day of October, 1979.

LETTER OF AGREEMENT

SUBJECT: Airport Emergency Procedures
1. PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this agreement is to
set forth procedures to be used for the preservation of life and
limb, property and efficiency in the event of an emergency or
accident.
2. SCOPE: To establish responsibility for emergency pro-
cedures between the Key West International Airport Management,
FAA Air Traffic Control Tower, FAA Flight Service Station and
the Stock Island Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. District I-A.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES: During the hours that the Control
Tower is in operation, it will assume full responsibility for
alerting the emergency equipment operator (Airport Safety Officer)
or the Stock Island Volunteer Fire Dept. When the Control Tower
is not in operation, the Flight Service Station will assume
responsibility of alerting procedures,
4. PROCEDURES: If, in the opinion of the Controller,
a potential emergency or accident exists, the Airport Safety
Officer shall be notified by radio communication to either "respond"
with or "stand-by" emergency equipment, If additional assistance
is thought necessary, the Stock Island Volunteer Fire Department
(contact by calling County Sheriff Dept. 296-2424) is then notified.
The Controller will notify the emergency equipment operator if:
the pilot of an aircraft requests such action or at the request
of the Airport Management. During the hours the Control Tower is
not in operation and a Safety Officer is not on duty, the Flight
Service Specialist will be responsible for alerting procedures.

5. NOTIFICATIONS: The Airport Manager or his representa-
tive shall be notified when an emergency situation exists.
If military aircraft is involved, either domestic or
foreign, the operations duty officer at the Naval Air Station
shall be notified.
6. It will be the responsibility of the Airport Manage-
ment to provide notification to any other necessary agencies
or personnel.
