RESOLUTION NO .306 -1978
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATON
TO PERFORM TRAFFIC STUDY
1VHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Board
of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, that there
exists a serious traffic hazard in the area along U. S. High-
way No. I at the lOa mile marker, Monroe County, Florida, and
WHEREAS, these areas are heavily travelled by travelling
motorists and the citizens of Monroe County, Florida, and
HHEREAS, the Board desires to insure the safety of said
travelling motorists and the citizens of Monroe County, Florida,
nmoJ, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
I. That the Board hereby requests the Department of
Transportation to perform a traffic study in the area along
State Road 5, otherwise kno~m as U. S. Highway No. I, at approxi-
mately the lOa mile marker directly in front of the Port Largo
Shopping Center to determine whether or not the proper installa-
tion of traffic control devices or turning lanes would alleviate
the hazardous traffic conditions existing there now.
2. That the Clerk of said Board be and he is hereby
authorized to forward certified copies of this resolution to the
Department of Transportation of the State of Florida, for appro-
priate action.
