Resolution 107-1980 .' RESOLUTION NO. 1011980 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING RE-OPENING OF U. S. NAVAL HOSPITAL. WHEREAS, the active duty military population in greater Key West area is increasing by leaps and bounds in view of the recent creation of a military joint task force and other incoming units at the U. S. Naval Air Station, Boca Chica, and WHEREAS, there is in the neighborhood some 3000 military retirees and their dependents In the greater Key West area and Monroe County, Florida, and WHEREAS, there is a definite and serIOUS need for a military hospital in Monroe County, Florida to properly dis- pense health and medical care to the active duty and military retiree population and their dependents, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: 1. That said Board of County Commissioners hereby goes on record of strongly favoring the reopening of the U. S. Naval Hospital, now only a Naval Regional Medical Clinic, immediately. 2. That the Clerk of said Board is hereby directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the Honorable Dante Fascell, the Honorable Lawton Chiles, the Honorable Richard Stone, the Honorable William H. Lockward, Chairman, Veterans Affairs Committee, Florida State Legislature, the Florida Division of Veterans Affairs, and the Commanding Officer, Naval Regional Medical Clinic, Key West. Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting held on the 22nd day of April, 1980.
