RESOLUTION NO. 21 -1978
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Board
of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, that there
exists serious traffic hazards in that area of U. S. Highway No.1
adjacent to the Island Christian School in Is lamorada , Monroe County,
Florida, and
TNHEFEAS, there are no traffic signals to insure the safety
of travelling motorists, school children and public, and
WHEREAS, that intersection is heavily travelled by the
citizens of Islamorada, Monroe County, Florida, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Department of Transportation of
the State of Florida be, and it is hereby requested to make a traf-
fic survey on U. S. Highway No. 1 adjacent to the Island Christian
School in Islamorada, Monroe County, Florida, to determine whether
or not a traffic control light should be placed in this area of
U. S. Highway No. 1 in order to alleviate the hazardous traffic
conditions existing there now.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of
said Board be and he is hereby authorized to forward certified
copies of this resolution to the Department of Transportation of
the State of Florida, for appropriate action.
