RESOLUTION NO. 44 - 1978
RESOLUTION REQUESTING DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPOR-
TATION OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO EXPEDITE
THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND RELEASE OF
FUNDS FOR CORRECTION OF THE DRAINAGE PROBLEMS
AT U.S. #1 AND KENNEDY DRIVE, KEY WEST, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation has for some time
been preparing the plans and specifications for repair and alleviation
of the drainage problem at the intersection U.S. Highway #1 (North
Roosevelt Boulevard) and Kennedy Drive, Key West, Monroe County,
Florida, and
WHEREAS, the delay in completion of the project is due in
main to the fact that funding is not yet available for the project, and
WHEREAS, the large amount of water standing at said heavily
traveled intersection is a traffic hazard and creates a bottleneck for
Southbound vehicles and both the City of Key West and the County of
Monroe are very much incerested in having this hazard eliminated, now
therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA as follows:
1. That the State of Florida, Department of Transportation,
be and it is hereby requested to expedite the preparation of the plans
and specifications for repair of said intersection prior to June 1978.
2. That the Monroe County Legislative Delegation to the Florida
Legislature be and they are hereby requested to do all that they are
able to do to expedite the release of funds for said project.
3. That the Department of Transportation be further requested
to use its good auspices to expedite the release of funds for said
project.
4. That the Clerk of the Board shall furnish a true copy of
the Resolution to the Department of Transportation and to each member
of the Monroe County Legislative Delegation to the Florida Legislature.
