FESOLUTION NO. 78 -1978
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TP~NSPORTATION TO
HAVE CHANNEL DEEPENED AT BOCA CHICA BRIDGE
\~EREAS, a new bridge has been constructed over
the Boca Chica Channel in the last several years, and
\~EREAS, said new bridge provided for an area
under which vessels could pass, and
vlliEREAS, there is presently in process a replacement
of the other remaining bridge and that the new bridge will
also provide for an underpass for vessels, and
\~EREAS, the channel located immediately below
the area provided for passage of vessels/requires deepening in
order to allow vessels to navigate, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COI~1ISSIONERS
OF 110NROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. The Board of County Commissioners does hereby
request the Department of Transportation to take any and
all action necessary to have the channel deepened in the
area going under the highest span of the new bridge currently
in place at Boca Chica Channel which provides for passage
of vessels such that the channel is deep enough for passage
of vessels to navigate, otherwise the area will be useless,
and to assure that when the new parallel bridge is constructed
that the highest p0int coincides with the existing high
spans on the new bridge presently in place.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution
be forwarded to the Department of Transportation and such
other officials as necessary.
