RESOLUTION NO. 87 -1976
W11EREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, has previously authorized road construction
projects on bridges on Duck Key, Monroe County, Florida, and
~vHEREAS, the Department of Transportation State of Florida
has already let a contract on said work, and
HHEREAS, said Board desires to add additional work to said
project, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Department of Transportation State
of Florida be and it is hereby authorized to include the following
construction work in said project:
1. Center-curb or other lane-divider from beginning
of each approach continuous over each entire structure.
2. Repair and replacement of damaged and missing guard-
rails, posts and supporting columns. This should include removal
of existing vase-type ornamentation, which has been attractive to
vandals, and replacement with plain concrete slab caps topped by
simple concrete pyramids or domes.
3. Re-surfacing of concrete road-beds (including removal
of pedestrian walkway curbs on bridge #4).
4. Complete repair, restoration and refurbishing of all
concrete structures, surfaces and architectural features; this
should include replacement (where necessary) and/or repair and fill-
ing of cracks, holes and gouges plus replastering of deteriorated
surface areas.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that said Department
of Transportation State of Florida be and it is hereby authorized
to negotiate change orders for this additional work with the con-
tractor and to pay for same out of Monroe County, Florida's second-
ary road funds.

BE IT ALSO FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that certified
copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Trans-
portation State of Florida for appropriate action.
