RESOLUTION NO. 95 -1976
WHEREAS, this Board has been advised that a bill is being
considered by the Florida Legislature that would require counties
to fund at least twenty-five per cent (25%) of the funds required
for district mental health services, and
WHEREAS, due to the present cap on tax millage and the
County's tight financial condition, this Board cannot assume the
added financial responsibility for the operation of the programs
which are compulsory under the Myers and Baker Act, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, in meeting assembled on the 1st day of
June, A.D. 1976, as follows:
1. That the Florida Legislature is urgently requested to
oppose House Bill 3634, relating to community mental health ser-
vices.
2. That the State Association of County Commissioners and
the Boards of County Commissioners of the Counties of Florida are
urged to actively oppose this Bill.
3. That copies of this resolution shall be forwarded to
the Monroe County Legislative Delegation, the Secretary of the
Florida Senate, the Clerk of the House of Representatives, and the
State Association of County Commissioners.
