Resolution 081-1977 RESOLUTION NO. 81_ 1977 WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, herein called the "Applicant", after thorough considera- tion of the problem and available data, has hereby determined that the project described below is in the best interests of the general public: For the specific development to construct terminal apron (200'x200'); install safety fence, Class "E'l (11300 If); strengthen, mark parallel taxiway (5000'x40'), at the Marathon Flight Strip, and, WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration of the U. S. Department of Transportation is authorized to grant funds to public agencies for airport development aid under provisions of Public Law 91-258, as amended, of the Airport and Airway Develop- ment Act of 1970, and WHEREAS, the Florida State Department of Transportation is authorized to grant funds to public agencies in the State of Florida for airport development aid under provisions of Section 334.02 of Florida Statutes, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, Monroe County, Florida, has determined that existing conditions warrant develop- ment of the Marathon Flight Strip in accordance with the 5 Year Development Plan - Stage I. WHEREAS, it is in the public interest that an application for an Airport Development Aid Program grant be filed to apply for funds from the Federal Aviation Administration. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, in open meeting assembled at Marathon, Florida, this 17th day of May, 1977, as follows: 1. That the project generally described above is in the best interests of the Applicant and the general public. 2. That Jack K. Burke, Monroe County Development Director, is hereby authorized and empowered to file an application with the Federal Aviation Administration for and on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners, Monroe County, Florida. That the Board of County Commissioners, Monroe County, Florida authorized the expenditure of $16,700 for the purpose of the Marathon Flight strip Development Aid Program. 4. That said Jack K. Burke, County Development Director, is hereby authorized to furnish such information and take such action as may be necessary to enable the Applicant to qualify for said grant. 5. That the Official designated in the preceding paragraph is hereby designated as the authorized representative of the Applicant for the purpose of furnishing to the Federal Aviation Administration and the Florida Department of Transportation such information, data and documents pertaining to the application for said grant as may be required and otherwise to act as the authorized representative of the Applicant in connection with this application. 6. That certified copies of this resolution be included as part of the application for said grant to be submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration and the Florida Department of Transportation. 7. That if such grant be made, the Applicant or Official designated in paragraph 4 above shall maintain such records neces- sary and furnish such information, data and documents as required by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Florida Department of Transportation to support the implementation of the project generally described above. 8. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
