COMMSS~ONERS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF

'Op:TRA~sPORTATION HIGHWAY BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM
RESOLUTION NO. 054 -1992
MONRO
WHEREAS, many roadside areas and median strips abutting
Department of Transportation right-of-way areas must be
maintained for safety and attractively landscaped; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County, through the Cudjoe Homeowners
Association and the Cudjoe Gardens Association, desires that
Monroe County beautify and improve certain rights-of-way
areas within the County by landscaping; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation,
Highway Beautification Council has funds available to
provide assistance in the implementation of such a landscape
program with a 50% match requirement; and
WHEREAS, the Cudjoe Associations have designed a
low-maintenance, xeriscape project to landscape 1300 linear
feet of DOT right-of-way inclusive and between Spanish Main
and Cutthroat Harbor intersections; and
WHEREAS, the Cudjoe Associations request $25,000.00 in
DOT funds to implement this project and have agreed to
provide for the maintenance of this project with minimal
county assistance; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Administrator is
hereby authorized to apply for a Highway Beautification
Grant from the Florida Department of Transportation on
behalf of the Cudjoe Homeowners and Cudjoe Gardens
Associations.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners
of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said
board held on the 8th day of January, A.D. 1992.
