Resolution 021-1970 RESOLUTION NO. 21 -1970 SECONDARY ROADS WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida has budgeted $250,000.00 of its Secondary Road Funds for the De- partment of Transportation to use in four-laning U. S. Highway No. 1 in Monroe County, and WHEREAS, said Board understands that the Department of Transpor- tation may desire to use all or part of these Secondary Road Funds for sur- veys, right-of-way maps and preliminary engineering related to said four- laning program, and WHEREAS, said Board desires to expedite the acquisition of all the necessary rights-of-way required for the four-laning, and WHEREAS, said Board desires particularly to expedite the planning and construction of the four-laning through the communities of Islamorada and Marathon, and WHEREAS, said Board believes that its firm of Consulting Engineers, Bailey, Glass and Post Associates, has detailed and specialized knowledge of the County! s road system, topography, landlines and other local matter s, and WHEREAS, said Consulting Engineers have previously demonstrated their capacity and ability to carry out highway engineering assignments successfully, both for Monroe County and the Department of Transportation, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Department of Transportation be, and it is hereby authorized and requested to contract insofar as possible with the firm of Bailey, Glas s and Post Associates to provide surveys, right- of-way maps, construction plans and related services in connection with the four-laning of U. S. Highway No. 1 in Monroe County, Florida. BE IT FUR THER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said Board be, and he is hereby authorized to forward certified copies of this Resolution to the Department of Transportation for appropriate action.
