Resolution 039-1964 RESOLUTION NO. 39 -1964 SECONDARY ROADS WHEREAS, certain citizens of Key Largo, Monroe County, Florida have requested the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida to endorse a road through North Key Largo through the islands known as Islandia, connecting with the Florida mainland in Dade County, Florida, and WHEREAS, said citizens have indicated that said road should connect with Dade County by having a road constructed from Key Biscayne down to the islands known as Islandia, to Broad Creek, which is the boundary line dividing Dade and Monroe counties, and that Monroe County should construct a road from said boundary line down to U. S. Highway #1 in the vicinity of Lake Surprise, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, That in the event a road is constructed in Dade County from Key Biscayne down to the islands known as Islandia, ending at Broad Creek, which is the boundary line dividing Dade and Monroe counties, then the Board of County Commissioners is willing to construct a four -lane highway from said boundary line through North Key Largo to U. S. Highway # 1 in the vicinity of Lake Surprise, and to finance the cost of said highway in Monroe County through a bond issue, payable out of tolls to be collected at the North end of said road near the Dade - Monroe County Line, and to guarantee that in the event said tolls are insufficient to pay for said bonds, an amount sufficient to make up any deficit will be pledged to be paid out of Monroe County, Florida Secondary Road Funds. BE IT FUR THER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said Board be, and he is hereby authorized to furnish certified copies of this Resolution to the State Road Department for appropriate action.
