AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approve Change Order No. 1 to clarify wording on an Agreement for
Independent Engineering Services with URS dated February 18, 2004, and extend expiration date.
ITEM BACKGROUND: In a review of the contract, some wording in Item 2, Payments for
Services, and Exhibit A need clarification, and the expiration date of June 30, 2004 has expired.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: Original Agreement for Independent Engineering
Services was approved at the February 18, 2004 BOCC meeting.
CONTRACT/AGREEMENT CHANGES: Clarify payment procedures and extend expiration date
from June 30, 2004 to December 20, 2004 as indicated on Change Order No.1.
STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS: Approval as stated above.

Detailed description of change, justification and clarification:
1. Date of Notice to Proceed: March 30, 2004
2. Extend Original Expiration Date from June 30, 2004 to December 20, 2004
3. Clarify AGREEMENT FOR INDEPENDENT ENGINEERING SERVICES with attached Exhibits A and B:
A. Item 2, Payments for Services
i) Reference to "subparagraph 1 (a)" should be "Paragraph 1"
ii) Reference to "Exhibit A" is hereby removed.
AGREEMENT FOR INDEPENDENT ENGINEERING SERVICES, Item 2, Payments for Services, should read as
follows:
"2. Payments for Services. Subject to the approval of the County Engineer (Engineer) and Clerk of the Circuit
Court (Clerk), the County must pay URS for the services described in Paragraph 1 and pursuant to the Schedule
attached as Exhibit B and in the amounts set forth in that schedule."
B. Exhibit A, INTRODUCTION, first paragraph:
Delete third and fourth sentences, "A fee and expense estimate shall be prepared with specific line items for
each task and subtask as listed below. Each line item shall clearly indicate task or subtask name, staff
level billing categories, unit billing rates, manhours by billing category total manhours and any related
expenses associated with the execution of the work. "
4. This change order shall supercede the items as written in the original agreement. All other provisions of the
agreement dated February 18, 2004 not consistent herewith shall remain in full force and effect.
