I was aware that my term was ending and had already started the process. I was originally in District 3 when I was appointed. I later moved to New Town and to District 1. Efforts were made so I could remain as Sonny's appointee so I could continue committee work I had begun. I have truly enjoyed the work on this committee, serving as secretary and attending all monthly meetings in Marathon. Our committee has worked hard to develop proposals to solicit and select art for the new Sheriffs Substation in Tavernier as well as art for the Freeman Justice Center. However; I feel a new appointee should reside in District 3 and be someone who can fully carry out the mission of the Art in Public Places Committee. I have found such a person in Roger Emmons. I have discussed the work of AIPP and he is not only interested in serving for District 3, but has many qualifications for the job. He has a sterling reputation as a real estate agent for 11 years in Key West. He is currently a new partner in Truman & Co, which formed in the past few months. He also serves on the Community Foundation Board and is a'past member of the Founders Society for the Tennessee Williams Performing Arts Center. He is well liked and active member of our community. Roger has indicated he would be pleased to be part of this committee and would work diligently to execute the mandate of the Ordinance for Public Art. His information: Roger Emmons 1131 Johnson Street Key West, FL 33040 294-5996 (h) 292-2244 (w) So, I regret I cannot serve a 2nd term, but fully endorse Roger Emmons as my replacement on this committee. After the election, when things have settled down, I would like to meet with Commissioner McCoy and make this recommendation perosnally. Thank you for your assitance in this matter.
