Resolution 125-1970
RESOLUTION NO. 125 -1970
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, on March 10, 1970, by Resolution No. 16-1970, requested the I I
Board to deed to said County certain state owned bay bottom lands which are
adjacent to right- of-way owned by Monroe County and included in the Card
Sound Road and Toll Bridge District, and again on July 21, 1970, said Board,
by Resolution No. 67-1970, requested said lands and furnished a description
and sketch of same to I I Board, and
WHEREAS, said Board is in the process of establishing a bulkhead
line In said district embracing said requested bay bottom lands, and
WHEREAS, the Cabinet of the State of Florida, on November 24, 1970,
(Item 9 on Agenda) agreed to lease part of the lands in said district needed
by the County to Jack Statham for the purpose of operating a fishing camp,
and
WHEREAS, said Board of County Commissioners was not aware of
any request for said lease, no:r was it notified by the I I Board that said lands
would not be given to the County for public purposes as requested, and
WHEREAS, said Board desires to be placed upon the Agenda for the
next Cabinet meeting to be held on December 15, 1970, to discuss the re-
cission of said action granting this lease, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Cabinet of the State of Florida
be, and it is hereby requested to place said Board of County Commissioners
on the Agenda for the next Cabinet meeting to be held on December 15, 1970,
in order that said Board may be able to discuss and request the recission of
the Cabinet's previous action in granting a lease on State owned bay bottom
lands adjacent to right-of-way owned by Monroe County included in the Card
Sound Road and Toll Bridge District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD, that the Cabinet of
the state of Florida is requested to withhold the granting and execution of
lease until the County can be heard on this matter.
