Resolution 029-1973 RESOLUTION NO. 29 -1973 WHEREAS, the electorate of the State of Florida in 1972, amended Article V of the Constitution of the State of Florida to establish a uniform judicial system and procedures for the administration of justice; and, WHEREAS, the legislature in enacting the provisions of Article V on which the electorate voted told the citizens of the State of Florida that the amendment of Article V would relieve local government of much of the burden of funding the court system and the State Attorney and Public De- fender; and, WHEREAS, the enactment of Article V has increased the burden on local government, such as Monroe County, to fund the State Attorney and Public Defender; and, WHEREAS, there are many other compelling needs such as ecology, public health and law enforcement which require local government funding, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: That the legislature of Florida provide full funding for the implemen- tation of Article V and for the Public Defender's and State Attorney's offices and their supporting staffs.
