RESOLUTION NO. 42 -1973
WHEREAS, the 1973 session of the Florida Legislature failed to
appropriate sufficient monies to adequately fund the operation of the cir-
cuit courts, county courts, state attorneys, public defenders, and court
reporters in the various judicial circuits and counties in Florida, and
WHEREAS, in view of this shortage of state funds, the counties
are being required to supplement the operation of such offices notwith-
standing the fact that when the Revised Article V of the Florida Constitution
was presented to the electors of the State for adoption, it was represented
to the Counties and the residents thereof that these offices would be entirely
funded by the State, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA as follows:
1. That the Legislature of the State of Florida is hereby urged
and requested at the upcoming session to appropriate sufficient monies to
fully fund the operation of said offices so that the counties will not be re-
quired to supplement their operation.
2. That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the Legislative
Delegation of Monroe County, to the State Budget Director, to the State
Association of County Commissioners and to each Board of County Commis-
sioners in Florida.
