RESOLUTION NO. 122-1973
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, has received numerous complaints about hitchhiking on the right-
of-way on U. S. Highway No. 1 in Monroe County, Florida, and
WHEREAS, said Board feels that hitchhiking on said right-of-way
is hazardous to the travelling public and hitchhikers because hitchhiking has
caused several accidents and may result in the death of the person hitchhiking,
now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Department of Transportation, State
of Florida, be and it is hereby requested to take the necessary action to pre-
vent hitchhiking on the right-of-way of U. S. Highway No.1 in Monroe County,
Florida.
BE IT FUR THER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said
Board be and he is hereby instructed to send certified copy of this resolution
to the Department of Transportation, State of Florida, for appropriate action.
