Resolution 127-1973 RESOLUTION NO. 127 -1973 WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections of Monroe County, Florida, has indicated that it is necessary to purchase eight (8) additional voting machines due to increase in the number of registered voters, and WHEREAS, Monroe County, Florida now uses automatic voting machines made by the A VM Corporation, which said corporation is the only firm manu- facturing said voting machines, and WHEREAS, it has been determined that the cost of said machines will exceed the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), and WHEREAS, F.S. 101.293 (b) provides that if a governing body deter- mines that there is but a single source of suitable equipment that the competi- tive bid process may be waived, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: 1. That the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, does hereby find that the only source from which voting machines of the same type now being used:in Monroe County, Florida, can be obtained but from one source; i. e., the AVM Corporation, manufacturer of said machines. 2. That the Supervisor of Elections is hereby directed to prepare a purchase order for the purchase of eight (8) automatic voting machines from A VM Corporation. 3. That the Mayor and Chairman of the County Commission is hereby authorized to submit a copy of this Resolution, together with the proposed pur- chase order, to the Department of General Services, Purchasing Division, State of Florida, for the purpose of having the purchase order approved without bid.
