Resolution 136-1973 RESOLUTION NO~136-l973 A RESOLTUION OPPOSING THE EXEMPTION OF ANY MOBILE HOMES FROM TIE-DOWN REQUIREMENTS WHEREAS, it is wel1~known that mobile homes are peculiarly subject to damage and complete destruction by high winds and therefore represent a dis- tinct hazard to property and life, and WHEREAS, it is well-knOwn that adequate "tie-down requirements" are necessary in the interest of the individual mobile home owner, occupants and owners and occupants of adjacent properties and mobile homes, and WHEREAS, the State and local governments have enacted mobile home tie- down requirements in the interest or protecting the public health, safety and welfare throughout the State of Florida to minimize loss of life, damage to property and disaster caused by storm and flood, especially in Monroe County, Florida, where during the past several years, due to hurricanes, citizens of Monroe County, Florida, have had enormous amounts of damages to mobile homes -, and WHEREAS, installed mobile homes are subject to tie-down at minimal expense, and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 70 proposes to exempt mobile homes "installed" prior to July I,. 1973 from the safety of tie-down requirements, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: 1. That the Board is unalterably opposed to exemption of mobile homes within Monroe County from tie-down requirements. 2. That adequate tie~down requirements should be applicable throughout the State. 3. That the legislative delegation representing Monroe County appose any exemption from tie-down requirements particularly as applied to Monroe County. DATED November 20~ 1973.
