Resolution 399-2004 Emergency Management RESOLUTION NO. 399 -2004 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA CONCERNING THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT'S REVISION AND UPDAnNG OF THE LOCAL MITIGAnON STRATEGY PLAN WHEREAS, Monroe County recognizes that hurricane and tropical storms, with winds and flooding, pose a continual threat to public health and safety and could result in significant public and private property damage, and economic losses; and WHEREAS, the Local Mitigation Strategy planning process encouraged by the State of Florida and the US Department of Homeland Security (Federal Emergency Management Agency) offers the opportunity to consider hazards and risks, and to identify mitigation actions to reduce future risk; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida has provided a grant to support revising and updating the Local Mitigation Strategy, including federal funds administered by the Department of Community Affairs; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: Section 1. The Office of Emergency Management is charged with coordinating with other appropriate County departments and agencies and representatives of the cities of Islamorada, Key Colony Beach, Key West, Layton, and Marathon, to revise and update the Monroe County Hazard Mitigation Plan in conformance with the State and federal guidelines. Section 2. The Office of Emergency Management shall notify, invite and encourage participation by adjacent communities, and representative of business owners, homeowners, and not-for-profit organizations.
