Resolution 002-1972 RESOLUTION NO. 2 - 19 72 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF APPLICATION/INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND/OR THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR PARTICIPATION IN A PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, the United States Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, authorizes the United States Secretary of Transportation to make grants for mass transportation projects; and WHEREAS, the contract for financial assistance will impose certain obligations upon the applicant, including the provision by it of the local share of project costs; and ~HEREAS, it is required by the United States Department of Transportation in accord with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, that in connection with the filing of an application for assistance under the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, the applicant give assurance that it will comply with said Act and Department of Transportation requirements thereunder; and ~iEREAS, j?ursuant to Section 334.02, Florida Statutes, as amended, the Legislature has determined and declared that the systematic and coordinated planning and development of halanced transportation facilities within and between all regions of Florida must ~e encouraged and should be vigorously pursued; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 334.02, Florida Statutes, as amended, the State of ~lorida Department of Transportation has been given the necessar/ authority to function adequately and efficiently in all areas of appropriate jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 334.01(1), Florida Statutes, every state agency, county, city, public body, authority, special district, expressway authority presently existing under Chapter 348 or Chapter 349, and any other authority created by special or general law of local applicction which has authority to expend funds fOT public transportation is authorized to expend the same for the general purposes of dev~loping an integrated, efficient, and well-balanced transportation system; and WHEREAS, Monroe County, Florida and the State of Florida are desirous of entering into an Interlocal Agreement, to aid in the financing of a portion of the Capital Improvement; and WHEREAS, Monroe County, Florida is desirous of obtaining a Capital Improvement Grant of assistance from the Federal Government; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by Monroe County, Florida; that: SECTION 1. Mayor Harry Harris is authorized to execute and file an application/ Interlocal Agreement on behalf of Monroe County, Florida with the Federal Government and/or the State of Florida for assistance in financing capital improvements consisting of Urban Mass Transportation Study. SECTION 2. Mayor Harry Harris is authorized to execute and file with such application/Inter local Agreement an assurance or any other document required by the Federal or State agencies as they may require in connection with the project. SECTION 3. That Mayor Harry Harris of ~jonroe County, Florida, is authorized to attest the above-descrihed contract and to furnish all other supporting data required to obtain such grants.
