Resolution 112-1972 RESOLUTION NO. 112 -1972 ,l) WHEREAS. the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida has received numerous complaints concerning the failure of trailer owners to obtain license tags, and WHEREAS. said Board has no authority to collect said license tag fees, same being under the jurisdiction of the Division of Motor Vehicles, Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and WHEREAS, Monroe County has lost approximately One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) in revenue from trailer owners failing to obtain the required license tags, and WHEREAS, in an effort to increase the number of tags purchased the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida had one of its employees, while inspecting trailer tie downs, report names of the owners of trailers to the local inspector of the Division of Motor Vehicles in order that appropriate citations might be is sued to those trailer owners n9J having tags, and WHEREAS, this method has failed to produce any substantial income, and WHEREAS, the Monroe County Tax Collector has no authority to enforce the collection of said trailer license tag fees, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Division of Motor Vehicles, De- partment of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles be, and it is hereby requested that they take the necessary action to enforce the trailer license tag law in Monroe County, Florida in order that the income derived from same can be collected by the Tax Collector of Monroe County, Florida. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BO\RD that a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Division of Motor Vehicles, Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for appropriate action.
