Resolution 026-1971 RESOLUTION NO. 26..1971 WHEREASl' the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe Countyl' F1oridal' has been informed that the Key West Lighthouse is being declared excess to the United States Coast GuardIs needsl' and WHEREAS" said lighthouse is not now being used as an aid to navigation" and WHEREAS. title to the land upon which said lighthouse is located has already been given to the County of Monroe, State of Florida, and WHEREAS, the said Board of County Commissioners desires to obtain the Key West Lighthouse for historical preservation and to be used in connection with the operation of the Armed Forces Historical Museum presently located adjacent to said lighthouse" now, therefore" BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the General Services Administration be and is hereby requested that upon the United States Coast Guard declaring said Key West Lighthouse as surplus or excess" that said lighthouse be given to the County of Monroe, State of Florida, for historical preservation and to be used in connection with the operation of the Armed Forces Historical Museum presently located adjacent to said lighthouse. BE IT FUR THER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the Clerk of said Board be" and he is hereby authorized and directed to forward copies of this resolution to the General Services Administration, Washington, D. C., and to Representative Dante B. Fascell and Senator Edward Gurney and Senator Lawton Chiles. Dated April 13th, 1971.
