Resolution 074-1975 RESOLUTION NO. 74 -1975 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, realizes the importance of preservation of the coral reef in the waters adjacent to ~1onroe County, Florida, because of its biological uniqueness and attraction for the many tourists visiting said County, and HHEREAS, the House of Representatives has passed a bill pre- venting the taking of any coral from the coral reefs in the waters adjacent to Monroe County, Florida, and WHEREAS, Senator Richard Renick has filed an amendment to said House Bill allowing the taking of coral from the coral reefs in waters adjacent to ~1onroe County, Florida, by individuals for their own private use and not for sale, and WHEREAS, said Board of County Commissioners feel that in order to preserve said coral reefs that no coral should be taken at the present time, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY CO~fr1ISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, it hereby requests Senator Richard Renick to withdraw his amendment to the bill passed by the House preserving the coral reefs in Monroe County, Florida, and allow the House version of said bill to be passed by the Senate. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that certified copies of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the Monroe County, Florida, delegation in the State Legislature. DATED May 13, 1975.
