Resolution 075-1975 RESOLUTION NO. 75 -1975 WHEFEAS, the Division of Disaster Preparedness has re- quested that the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, pass the following resolution, now, therefore, BE IT P~SOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COl1MISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: 1. Every Officer, Board, Department, Commission or Agency of the County of Monroe charged 'N:~th the duty of preparing sDecifica- tions, or awarding or entering into contracts for the design, erection, or construction of buildings, or other structures, including addi- tions to existing structures, for the County shall incorporate, or cause to be incorporated, in such buildings or other structures, pro- tection from radioactive fallout, for at least its normal anticipated occupancy, which shall meet, or exceed, the minimum space and pro- tection criteria recommended by the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency, United States Department of Defense, unless exempted from such shelter requirements in accordance with Section (2) of this resolution. 2. The Board of County Commissioners may exempt buildings or other structures from the requirements of this resolution where it finds that the addition of fallout protection will create, in the building or other structure, an additional net cost in excess of no per cent (0%) in the construction of such building, or that other factors make it unnecessary lor impracticable to incorporate fallout protection in the design or construction of such building or struc- ture. 3. It shall be the policy of the Board of County Commis- sioners of Monroe County, Florida, that fallout shelter protection shall be incorporated into all county buildings provide protection against the effects of radioactive fallout for the greatest possible number of people in the event of nuclear explosion. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that this resolution shall take effect May 13, 1975. BE IT ALSO FURTHER P~SOLVED BY SAID BOARD that certified copies of this resolution be filed with the Monroe County, Florida, Director of Division of Disaster Preparedness. DATED Hay 13, 1975.
