Resolution 031-1974 RESOLUTION NO. 31 -1974 RESOLUTION CANCELLING TAXES ON CERTAIN LAND ACQUIRED FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES WHEREAS, the County of Monroe, State of Florida, a political subdivision of the State of Florida, has recently purchased certain lands in Monroe County, Florida, for public purposes; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of each county of the state is given full power and authority to cancel and discharge any and all taxes de- linquent or current upon lands conveyed to, or acquired by any agency, govern- mental subdivision or municipality of the State, or of the United States, for road purposes, defense purposes, recreation or other public purpose; and WHEREAS, the statute further provides that said lands shall be exempt from county taxation so long as the same are used for such public purposes; and WHEREAS, Section 196.28 and Section 196.29, Florida Statutes 1971, provides that the Board of County Commissioners by resolution duly adopted and entered upon its minutes properly describing such lands and setting forth the public purpose to which the same are to be used and devoted shall have authority to remove the lands from the tax roles when used by governmental agency for recreational or other public use, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, PLORIDA: 1. That by and under the authority of Section 196.28 and Section 196.29, Florida Statutes 1971, the Tax Assessor of Monroe County, Florida, shall assess and the Tax Collector of Monroe County, Florida, shall collect money on lands described hereafter to reflect an assessment and collection of $163.75 on the following land: That part of Lot 9 in Section 1, Township 61, South of Range 39 East, lying South of the right-of-way of the Florida East Coast Railroad, according to Model Land Company's Plat, re- corded in Plat Book 1 at Page 68 of the Public Records of Monroe County, Florida; excepting therefrom that portion of said Lot 9 deeded by Wesdun Corp." grantor herein, to Florida Keys Electric Co~operative Association, Inc., by Warranty Deed dated February 18, 1966 and recorded in Official Records 369, Page 149 of the Public Records of Monroe County, Florida. -2- 2. The Tax Collector of Monroe County, Florida, is hereby ordered to accept as full payment the sum of $163.75 as and for the complete payment of taxes on that property heretofore conveyed byWESDUN CORPORATION, a cor- poration existing under the laws of the State of New Jersey, heretofore con- veyed to the County of Monroe, State of Florida, a political subdivision of the State of Florida.
